The Blues confirmed the appointment of Alonso last weekend, with the 44-year-old signing a four year contract at Stamford Bridge.
Alonso officially begins work on July 1st, but there’s no doubt he’s already planning for the summer, which is absolutely critical for Chelsea.
Hiring Alonso has been seen as a real coup for Chelsea, and the players are understood to be excited at the prospect of working under the Spaniard.
Reece James has described Alonso as an amazing manager, whilst Trevoh Chalobah has stated he’s looking forward to working under the former Real Madrid boss.
Unlike Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior, Alonso has been given the title of manager, which indicates he’ll have more control.
It’s believed the former Real Madrid boss will have a say in transfers, and Morrison believes if Chelsea get their recruitment right this summer they could be a threat next season.
“Xabi Alonso will be good,” he told BBC Sport as quoted on X.com.
“If Chelsea can get recruitment sorted in the summer, I think they will surprise a lot of people.
“I think he will be a very good appointment for Chelsea and I think we will be talking a lot about Xabi Alonso next season.”
