The Court of Arbitration have officially rejected Club León's appeal to play at the 2025 Club World Cup.
The Liga MX club were originally removed from the competition for breaching multi-club rules, as the Grupo Pachuca also owns another team competing in the tournament.
As a result, a spot has opened up for one more team and LAFC and Club América are likely to compete in a play-off game to determine the final place, worth an estimated $9.55 million.
The winner of that match will enter Group D along with Chelsea, Flamengo and ES Tunis.
The 2025 Club World Cup begins on Saturday, 14 June and finishes on Sunday, 13 July and has expanded to include 32 teams.
