When assessing Manchester City’s options at centre-back for next season, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey is often the forgotten man. The young centre-back made his debut for the Manchester City first team last season. He was also a key player in City’s EDS side’s successful 24/25 campaign.

But looking at what would be best for his growth as a player Simpson-Pusey would benefit greatly from playing at a higher level than City’s EDS side. It has now been reported that a host of clubs are interested in securing Simpson-Pusey’s services for next season. A loan move could be exactly what he needs to kick on as a player.

A loan move for Jahmai Simpson-Pusey makes perfect sense.

As mentioned above a loan move for the 25/26 season makes perfect sense for Jahmai Simpson-Pusey. The young centre-back needs to play at a higher level and a move to the Championship or the Scottish Premier League could be the ideal setting for him to grow as a player. Playing against seasoned professionals is the logical next step in Simpson-Pusey’s development as a player. Given that Simpson-Pusey has previously broken into the Manchester City first team it is clear to see how highly regarded he is at the Etihad. But his path to playing regularly in Pep Guardiola’s squad is seemingly blocked. With seven centre-backs in the City first team squad, there wouldn’t be a host of opportunities for Simpson-Pusey to play. Going out on loan will give the impressive young centre-back the opportunities he likely wouldn’t receive at Manchester City.

It isn’t a surprise to learn that a host of clubs are eager to secure Jahmai Simpson-Pusey’s services on loan for next season. He looks set to have a long career at the highest level. The hope is that Simpson-Pusey can secure a loan move for next season. If he can and thrive playing at a higher level it could set him for his City career.
