Tammy Abraham and Alexis Saelemaekers’ futures may overlap this summer, but a report has suggested that they may not even cross paths now.

Considering both players are on dry loans, there has always been an idea that the pair would be involved in a swap deal of some kind if their respective moves were successful. However, there were a few issues with this in January, as Calciomercato.com reports.

Instead, it seemed increasingly likely that Saelemaekers would return and be reassessed, but now, that idea is once again in the air, with Roma now trying to conjure a new idea to benefit both clubs.

Previously, as the report suggests, the Roman club were looking to get money and Saelemaekers in exchange for Abraham, but now, the winger is arguably the more valuable of the two players, and has more interest.

So, with the Gialorossi desperate to extend his stay, they have returned to the table with a new deal on the table. Instead of a player plus cash deal, it seems that a straight swap may be on the table, and Florent Ghisolfi is aware that there will be no quick reply.

The Rossoneri still need to decide about Abraham, whilst the Englishman would also have to lower his wage for the move. In other words, the idea is there, but it must be viewed by the new sporting director and other relevant parties.
