Noah Okafor was supposed to have his first day of training with RB Leipzig today, but instead returned to Italy looking visibly dejected.
To summarise things quickly: Okafor flew to Germany on Monday for a medical after a deal with Leipzig was agreed, but then the deal collapsed and he came back to Milano. He has claimed that he does not know why it fell through, while there are conflicting reports about it.
According to Calciomercato.com, the Swiss striker is understandably ‘disappointed’ after what have been some strange days in which he thought he was getting a fresh start but instead returns to being in a kind of limbo situation.
Milan have not changed their minds on the former Salzburg man, who remains on the way out. They believe that Okafor has clinically recovered from the flexor problem he suffered a month and a half ago and is fit and eligible for any club.
In the next few hours, Geoffrey Moncada will have a meeting with the agents of the 24-year-old to plan the next moves. Okafor will leave Milan by February 3rd, whether on loan or permanently is yet to be seen.
The club are confident they will find a place for the player, who is not in Sergio Conceicao’s plans. The sale of Okafor will also help free up a place in the squad list, and they are working on a potential Bundesliga or Premier League switch above all.
