Cole Palmer on ‘amazing talent’ Estevao, Joao Pedro’s debut and celebrating with Tosin | OneFootball

Cole Palmer says he cannot wait to play with an “amazing talent” in Estevao – but urged patience with the youngster.

The Blues beat Palmeiras 2-1 in the Club World Cup quarter-final, thanks to a Palmer strike and a Weverton own goal in the 83rd minute.

Estevao had equalised for Palmeiras in his last game for the club before he joins Chelsea and Palmer said: “He’s a top player. Obviously, he’s only young as well.

“When he comes to England, people need to give him time to adapt to the culture, the language. He’s still only 18 or 19 or something. But you can see he’s got amazing quality and we look forward to seeing him.

“I said we look forward to seeing you but he didn’t understand a word I said!”

Joao Pedro also made his debut for the Blues as a substitute and he, alongside Noni Madueke, completely changed the game for Chelsea. Palmer was full of praise for the impact the Brazilian had.

“I think he did very well tonight,” he said. “I think he changed the game for us. Obviously, he’s been on holiday in Brazil and we didn’t know what to expect from (in terms of) match sharpness and those things, but tonight, I think he changed the game.”

Palmer scored the opening goal on the night which was his first in eight games for club and country, and he opened up on what he was going through and why he went straight to Tosin Adarabioyo to celebrate.

“That’s my boy,” he said. “Obviously, I’ve had a difficult time these past whatever months on and off the pitch, but he’s always been there for me and he’s helped me a lot. So, yeah, I just thought I’d go over to him.”

Chelsea will now face Fluminense in New York for a place in the final.
