Mirwan Suwarso says Como ‘communicated our refusal directly’ to Inter President Beppe Marotta regarding Cesc Fabregas’ availability: ‘Hardly anyone would insist after such a clear answer.’

Como confirm they don’t want to part ways with their coach Fabregas, despite Inter’s pressure to put the Spaniard under contract.

“We have communicated our refusal directly to the president of Inter, who has recognised it with the courtesy and clarity that is expected among clubs that have mutual respect,” Como president Suwarso told Fabrizio Romano.

“For this reason, we treat rumours insistent on their interest in our coach as pure fantasy — hardly anyone would insist after such a clear answer. Especially a club of the calibre of Inter.”

The Italian tactician left the Nerazzurri after winning six trophies in four years.

Football Italia can confirm that Patrick Vieira of Genoa and Parma’s Christian Chivu, two ex-Inter stars, are Inter’s main alternatives to Fabregas.

Vieira took charge of Genoa this past November and is under contract until June 2026, but the Grifone can release him through the payment of a €500,000 clause.

Fabregas not only secured survival with Como in his debut Serie A season but also ended in the top 10.

Inter director Piero Ausilio flew to London to meet with the Spanish tactician and Como on Wednesday, but Suwarso’s latest statement confirms the Azzurri are unwilling to release their coach.
