Como are shortlisting attackers in case Real Madrid buy back Nico Paz and are particularly keen on Antonio Vergara and Mattia Liberali, who shone at Napoli and Catanzaro last season.
According to Il Mattino, the Partenopei value their starlet at about €30M. Massimiliano Allegri will have a lot of say about his future. He stayed mostly for list-related reasons last year and eventually found some room because of their wave of injuries. He notched 3 goals and 4 assists in 19 appearances before suffering a plantar fascia tear.
His agent, Mario Giuffredi, commented to Radio Kiss Kiss (via Fantacalcio).
“He’s 23 years old and one of the purest talents in Serie A. We’ll see what the club thinks of him. If they’d rather sell him, we won’t oppose it, but it’s not a choice we have to make. The Lariani always appreciated him, but they aren’t the only ones.”
Como, which are looking to add some Italian-grown talents, have also laid eyes on Mattia Liberali in addition to Vergara. He has a €6M release clause, half of which will be pocketed by Milan, Gianluca DI Marzio informs.
In this case, they need to beat Bologna, Cagliari, and especially Sassuolo, which just hired his former coach, Alberto Aquilani. After showing promise, especially during the summer, with the Rossoneri, he scored 4 times and dished out 4 helpers in 30 Serie B tilts.
It’d be nice to see Cesc Fabregas nurture some Italian starlets, but they have so far steered clear of them because of their price tags. They can take some gambles, as, even if they lose Paz, they already have some tantalizing players waiting in the wings for bigger roles.
