Italian side Como have submitted an improved formal offer to Chelsea for versatile defender Trevoh Chalobah, with direct negotiations ongoing to finalise an agreement.

The ambitious Serie A club have structured a new proposal worth a guaranteed €25 million, plus €5m in performance-related add-ons.

Crucially, the add-ons are understood to be highly attainable, effectively ensuring the total fee reaches €30m. This move follows an earlier opening bid from Como that fell short of Chelsea’s expectations.

While the Blues hierarchy initially held out for a premium fee for their academy graduate, this upgraded, nearly guaranteed arrangement has significantly narrowed the valuation gap between the two clubs.

From the player’s perspective, Chalobah is said to be very keen on a move to Lombardy. The 27-year-old English defender is attracted by the sporting project under manager Cesc Fabregas, where he would be guaranteed a central role in the defence.

Having spent recent seasons on the fringes at Chelsea, Chalobah views a move to Italy as the ideal opportunity to re-establish himself as a regular starter.

Negotiations between Chelsea and Como remain active as the two clubs work to finalise the details of a deal.
