He said: “I don’t know, but we’re not lacking in ambition. Como has made big investments with many young players like me who can improve. We don’t set limits.”

The 20-year-old also detailed how the move from Real Madrid came about, revealing that Cesc Fabregas was key to making it all happen.

“I was at the Club World Cup with Real Madrid, the clubs talked to each other, Cesc called me and said he thought I was perfect for them, and I was thrilled to join him.

“It all happened very quickly, we were on the same wavelength. Como is a super ambitious project, and I already had several friends there, Nico Paz, Assane Diao, Jesus Rodriguez. The right place to continue my journey.”

The defender claimed that the Serie A is more physical than La Liga but Como’s playing style is more ‘Spanish’ and more technical, which suits his profile more.

“It’s too early to draw any conclusions, but I can venture to say that Serie A seems a bit more physical than La Liga. I really enjoy football, and I watched several Serie A matches last year, appreciating the tournament’s competitive spirit. In Spain, Real Madrid and Barcelona are far superior to the others. In Italy, the Scudetto race is getting closer and closer.

“There are six or seven very strong teams that can compete against each other, it’s easy to drop points, and all the matches are very tough. And then Como has a lot of Spanish players and a very similar style of play to the one they play in Spain: technical, build-up play from the back, possession. These are all skills I’ve mastered since I was a kid, and if they work, they can yield great results. Let’s see if we can achieve great things.”

When asked about the city and the atmosphere at Como, the Spaniard said: “Wow, magnificent. The place is beautiful, the stadium is impressive, small but with warm people, I’m very happy.”

Ramon has already shown this season that he has settled well into life in Italy, impressing with his overall abilities. The next few weeks will be vital but it is clear that the youngster is in good stead under Fabregas.
