Sergio Conceicao has admitted that he ‘spoke to’ four of his Milan players after they decided to attend a Lazza concert in the city on Friday night in the build-up to the team’s chaotic 3-2 victory over Parma in Serie A over the weekend.

The Milan-Parma match was not lacking in entertainment in terms of the football, or the drama that surrounded it. The Rossoneri came within minutes of a 2-1 defeat, but ended up on the winning side of a 3-2 result after injury-time goals from Tijjani Reijnders and Samuel Chukwueze.

Conceicao was also involved in a heated exchange with Davide Calabria on the San Siro pitch immediately after full-time, while reports on the same day claimed the coach was ‘angry’ at some of his first-team players for attending a Lazza concert in the build-up to the game.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Dinamo Zagreb, the Milan coach admitted that he spoke to four players about their decision to attend the concert.

Though Conceicao did not name any individuals, Calabria, Theo Hernandez, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Francesco Camarda were photographed alongside the rapper backstage on the night of his gig at the Unipol Forum in Assago.

“These things make people talk,” Conceicao told the press, reported via TMW.

“I’m Portuguese, I’m from a different culture, but the language of football is universal: We have two hours of training a day, and then it’s normal life, but you have to deal with it professionally.

“It’s not a call to attention for everyone, the world doesn’t come crashing down because of a concert. I spoke with four players, I have my rules and the club has them too.

“It doesn’t matter for tomorrow, the most important thing is to think about Dinamo and how we can beat them.”
