One key Chelsea player who has only just returned from another injury lay off went straight down the tunnel after being taken off vs Bournemouth.

In what would naturally be a concerning update via a journalist who was at the game, it transpires that said player headed straight inside when subbed off not long into the second half.

EXCLUSIVE! 5 full backs Chelsea have placed top of their shortlist for transfer move soon!

Romeo Lavia came off for another injury prone Chelsea player, Reece James, not long into the second half in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Tuesday night. The sub went on to become vital for a few reasons, one of which was James was the scorer of Chelsea’s very late equaliser to save some blushes.

But also because Lavia, having just returned from his latest injury, needed to rest his legs and come off. Chelsea are treating his return very cautiously.

So they got him straight down the tunnel for some treatment to make sure everything was OK and the muscles were recovered.

It doesn’t sound like it was another injury for Lavia, just that they wanted to work on his muscles right away as soon as he came off the pitch.

The Daily Mail’s Kieran Gill reports that Lavia managed close to an hour vs Bournemouth. But he then went down tunnel with Chelsea masseur Billy McCulloch while game was still going on. Chelsea have been treating his return from injury carefully, with the aim to keep him (and Reece James) available for the remainder of season.

Well, very best of luck with that is all I can say! These two players are vital for Chelsea but both have struggled with injuries throughout their short careers so far. I think it would be a miracle for James to stay fit all season at least, but let’s hope.
