Confirmed: Barcelona goalkeeper completes loan departure | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have announced that young goalkeeper Diego Kochen has completed a loan move to Danish club Lyngby Boldklub.

The 20-year-old United States shot-stopper has signed on a season-long temporary deal in search of regular first-team football.

“FC Barcelona and Lyngby Boldklub have reached an agreement for the loan of Barça Atletic goalkeeper Diego Kochen for one season with an option to buy, until June 30, 2027,” the club statement read.

Good move for Kochen

Kochen has been at the Barcelona academy for seven years now, having joined La Masia back in 2019.

Regarded as one of the best goalkeeping prospects to have come through the ranks, the 20-year-old starlet served as the third-choice custodian for Hansi Flick’s first team last season.

At the same time, he was also starting games for Juliano Belletti’s Barça Atletic side.

With no chance of first-team football at the club, Kochen has decided to join Lyngby, who have been recently promoted to the Danish top-flight, in search of regular professional football.

An agreement had been reached a while ago, but the move was held up due to some paperwork issues, which have now been resolved.

Even though the statement does not mention it, reports suggest that the agreement between the two clubs has a €1.5 million purchase option along with a 40% future sell-on clause in favour of Barcelona.
