Confirmed: Three Barcelona players start in FIFA World Cup final vs Argentina | OneFootball

We are just a little more than an hour away from witnessing the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup as Spain take on Argentina at the Metlife Stadium.

Heading into this game, Spain has confirmed its starting eleven that will take on the defending champions, as La Roja look for their second World Cup title.

Unsurprisingly, the Spain starting eleven features multiple Barcelona stars, who will have a role to play in helping their nation against Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

Who starts in the final?

The Spain starting eleven in the final features three Barcelona players in the form of Pau Cubarsi, Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo.

Yamal is undoubtedly the player in focus as he looks to outshine Lionel Messi, his idol. The direct matchup between these two players will be a treat for any Barcelona fan.

Yamal hasn’t had a productive tournament so far but he has been a constant threat on the flanks. Tonight is not going to be an exception.

Cubarsi, meanwhile, has the monumental task of keeping Messi and Barcelona target Julian Alvarez quiet. He has been imperious so far alongside Aymeric Laporte.

Olmo, though, could be the link that binds the Spain attack together. His ability in tight spaces could be critical as La Roja look to break down the Argentina defence.

More options on the bench

Spain coach Luis de la Fuente can always count on other Barcelona players, later on in the game to add more thrust to the team.

The most obvious one is Pedri. Fabian Ruiz has been given the nod ahead of the Barcelona star once again, but Pedri could be more useful if Spain end up leading around the hour mark.

Ferran Torres is another option should main striker Mikel Oyarzabal fail to find any inroads in the final third. Gavi is an option, too, but it is unlikely he will be used by de la Fuente.

The same applies for Eric Garcia, although he could be a useful option if any of the Spain defenders pick up an injury.
