CONMEBOL has confirmed the dates and kick-off times for Boca’s Copa Sudamericana last 16 tie with Recoleta. The Argentine club now turn their focus to a new continental test after a taxing play-off against O’Higgins.

The first leg will be on Tuesday 11 August at 19:00 at La Bombonera. The return is set for Tuesday 18 August at 19:00 at Defensores del Chaco in Asunción. Boca must finish the tie away from home.

Boca won the opener at La Bombonera, then lost by the narrowest margin in Rancagua over 90 minutes. The tie was settled on penalties, 4-3 to Boca, after Tomas Aranda missed and goalkeeper Álvaro Montero made a key save.

Despite the relief, the display left questions and Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s side are under pressure to sharpen up across the pitch. The hierarchy expect a step up in quality in line with the club’s demands.

Recoleta topped Group D with eight points from one win and five draws, the lowest tally among the group winners. Their section included Santos, San Lorenzo and Deportivo Cuenca. On paper they may look manageable, but Boca cannot afford any complacency.
