Conmebol has replaced injured Argentine referee Facundo Tello for Palmeiras’ Conmebol Libertadores opener, Globo.com reports.

Palmeiras face Júnior Barranquilla next Wednesday in Cartagena.

Tello suffered a left leg injury during extra time of Democratic Republic of the Congo’s 1-0 play-off win over Jamaica. He will be replaced by compatriot Maximiliano Ramírez.

Juan Belatti and José Savorani remain as assistants, with Hernan Mastramgelo in the VAR booth. All are Argentine.

The Congo victory secured a World Cup berth for the Africans.

Leaders of the Brasileirão, Palmeiras visit Bahia in Salvador on Sunday, then travel to Colombia to begin their campaign.
