Connections: Is the Barça star still a possibility for Bayern? | OneFootball

FC Bayern continues to keep an eye out for potential signings this summer. While it currently appears that little will happen in the near future, player sales could immediately bring new momentum to the situation. 

Sacha Boey, Joao Palhinha, Bryan Zaragoza, Hiroki Ito, and Min-jae Kim are currently the candidates here. However, in Kim’s case, it’s important to note that an absolutely top-tier offer would be necessary, as the record champions otherwise plan to keep him as a backup for the defense.

Four of the players on this list alone play in defense. So it’s no surprise that Bayern is also keeping an eye on defensive players as it monitors the transfer market.

Is Koundé a Bayern option again?

One player is reportedly being closely monitored by the record champions: Jules Koundé of FC Barcelona. While he has recently played on the right side for the French national team, he was originally trained as a center back.

Rumors of Bayern’s interest persist, even though some media outlets have denied them. So there has been a bit of confusion surrounding the Barca star lately.

And that confusion continues. As Ekrem Konur now reports, FC Bayern still has the Frenchman on their radar and has made contact with his entourage. There are no further discussions, and there has been no communication with FC Barcelona yet.

Koundé himself is reportedly not planning to leave the Catalans; nothing has changed in that regard. However, Bayern apparently wants to find out whether, if the situation were to arise and depending on how things develop, the record champions are even a club that could be a factor for the player.

What would have to happen for a transfer to become a possibility? On the one hand, the Frenchman would need to be dissatisfied; on the other, there would need to be increased competition for playing time or financial difficulties at the Blaugrana. Ultimately, none of this can be ruled out.
