The Copa Ciudad de Esquel "Banco del Chubut" reaches its climax on Wednesday at Club Belgrano, after a tournament marked by strong attendances and community backing.

Subsecretary of Sport Hernán Maciel said the competition featured 32 teams and more than 800 players, including sides from across the region and from Chile. He also highlighted joint work between the municipality, clubs and leagues including Liga de Veteranos, Liga de Independientes and Liga del Oeste del Chubut.

Belgrano Seniors representative Ignacio Goyeneche said the holders are delighted to be back in the decider and have another chance to retain the title.

He added that meeting San Martín revives a long-standing city clásico, and said it feels like a privilege for veteran players to contest such a match again.

Goyeneche explained that much of the squad played together for years and, after formal retirement, formed this team to stay connected to football. He praised the turnout and the chance to share the pitch across generations.

He noted that some matches drew several thousand supporters, uncommon in local tournaments, and said he hopes the Copa endures.
