Valencia are counting down to a crucial meeting with Real Madrid, but Carlos Corberán is short at right-back.

According to Superdeporte, Thierry Rendall has returned from a hamstring tear suffered on 10 January, but limited training means he is not expected to start after several weeks out.

With Foulquier injured, the coach from Cheste may need to reshuffle or adjust his system to take on Álvaro Arbeloa’s side.

The picture is further complicated by Rubén Iranzo’s recent knee injury. He has avoided surgery, but caution over his fitness reduces his scope as a defensive stop-gap.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Cristian Rivero, having served a three-match suspension, is available for selection. With Vicente Abril up from the B team, Corberán is obliged to leave someone out, without Agirrezabala and Diakhaby.
