Olympique de Marseille’s women are in turmoil after a 1-2 loss to Montpellier in their Vélodrome debut, with Corinne Diacre facing protests and selection scrutiny.

According to L'Équipe, graffiti calling for Diacre’s exit appeared in the city after Roselène Khezami, last season’s D2 captain, complained on Instagram about being dropped. She later apologised internally and is understood to have been sanctioned.

Diacre, appointed in early October, had earlier endured a 1-6 defeat at Paris FC on 18 October, and about a month before the Vélodrome match former OM keeper Chloé N’Gazi criticised her treatment at the club despite helping win promotion.

N’Gazi excelled for Montpellier, while her Marseille successor Margot Shore could not prevent an own goal by Inès Kbida 40 seconds in. Kbida, a central midfielder used at full-back, was withdrawn before the interval, which jarred further given Khezami is a natural left-back.

Post-match, Diacre said she took full responsibility and urged unity, noting there were no suspensions or injuries and that she sought balance rather than too many defensive profiles.

Diacre was also affected by Khezami’s message, yet has chosen to move on and extend forgiveness, maintaining she has had no personal issues with the player.

After the international break, OM host Nantes on 22 April, visit Lens on 25, then finish at home to Dijon on 6 May. If Diacre secures safety, the club’s stated target, she can choose to stay or consider other offers.
