Corinthians announce signing of Matheus Pereira on loan from Fortaleza | OneFootball

Corinthians have announced the loan signing of midfielder Matheus Pereira from Fortaleza.

According to Globo.com, he arrives at no cost on a deal until the end of the year, which includes an option to buy, and Corinthians will cover his salary in full during the loan.

Pereira’s paperwork has been completed, he has appeared in the CBF’s Boletim Informativo and has trained with the squad.

He could be named in the squad for the clássico against São Paulo on Sunday at Neo Química Arena.

The midfielder turns 28 next month and came through Corinthians’ ranks, though he made only three senior appearances for the club.

His career has taken him to Empoli and Juventus in Italy, Bordeaux and Dijon in France, and Barcelona B and Eibar in Spain.

Left-footed and 1.83 metres tall, he can operate in various midfield roles. Last season he played 20 times for Fortaleza, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
