Corinthians await Matheus Bidu fitness, Angileri could feature in Libertadores | OneFootball

Matheus Bidu is a doubt for Corinthians’ trip to Peñarol on Thursday in Montevideo due to left-ankle pain, with Fabrizio Angileri a potential alternative.

According to Globo.com, the fixture is the fifth round of the Conmebol Libertadores group stage.

The left-back was caught by a heavy challenge from Cristian Medina during Sunday’s match against Botafogo in the Campeonato Brasileiro and left Rio de Janeiro with swelling.

The 27-year-old stayed indoors at CT Joaquim Grava on Tuesday and did not take part in training.

Coach Fernando Diniz will only know on Wednesday if he can call on Bidu, with the expectation he joins field work if the ankle swelling eases.

If Bidu is unavailable, the Argentine Angileri may step in at left-back. Corinthians lead Group E on 10 points, while Peñarol are bottom with two.
