Corinthians back to three match winless run after 2-0 loss at Internacional | OneFootball

Corinthians fell 2-0 to Internacional in the Copa do Brasil last-16 first leg on Sunday night, extending their run to three matches without a win. The defeat at Beira-Rio leaves Fernando Diniz’s side needing a turnaround in Itaquera.

The loss followed a 1-1 draw away to Bahia in Salvador and a 0-0 at home against Athletico Paranaense in the league. According to Meu Timao, it is their first three match winless spell since February.

Back in February, Corinthians drew 1-1 with Portuguesa on 22 February 2026. They then drew 1-1 with Cruzeiro on 25 February, before losing 1-0 to Grêmio Novorizontino in the state semi on 28 February.

That barren run stretched to nine matches without a victory. The club dismissed then head coach Dorival Júnior after a 1-0 home defeat to Internacional at Neo Química Arena.

The sides meet again in Itaquera on Thursday, the sixth of August, at 20:00. Corinthians must win by three or more goals at Neo Química Arena to reach the quarter-finals without penalties. A two-goal victory would send the tie to penalties, as away goals do not apply in the Copa do Brasil.
