Corinthians beat Foz, clinch sixth and home edge for last 16

On Saturday night, the 27th, Corinthians returned to the court for the National Futsal League (LNF). In a game valid for the 23rd and final round of the first phase, Timão hosted Foz Cataratas at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium and, after opening a two-goal lead and suffering a draw, managed to win 3 x 2 in the final moments. The alvinegro goals were scored by Luiz Brizzi, Rick, and Deives.

With the victory, Timão ended their campaign in this phase of the LNF with 42 points, occupying the sixth position in the classification table. And in the round of 16, the team will face Carlos Barbosa, who finished in 11th place, in the fight for a spot in the quarterfinals. It's worth mentioning that Alvinegro will have the advantage of playing the return match at home, at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium.

For the match, coach Fernando Malafaia lined up Corinthians with Lucas Oliveira, Lucas Martins, Renatinho, Luisinho, and Rick. On the bench, the team had Koji, Kelvin, Papagaio, Luiz Brizzi, Edimar, Vandinho, Igor Carioca, Deives, and Andrey available.

Corinthians started the game with great intensity, creating chances in the first few seconds. A few minutes in, Luiz Brizzi opened the scoring by converting a direct side free kick, leaving no chance for the opposing goalkeeper. The team kept up the pressure, with Rick shooting twice in a row, but was defended by the Foz goalkeeper.

At the end of the first half, Rick took advantage of a defensive error, came face to face with the goalkeeper, and scored Corinthians' second goal. Foz tried to react, but was contained by goalkeeper Lucas Oliveira, who maintained Corinthians' 2 x 0 advantage.

In the second half, Corinthians continued to be offensive, creating the first chance – but Lucas Martins wasted it. Foz took advantage and grew in the game, reducing the difference with a long-distance shot from Vitinho, and tying shortly after with a rehearsed free kick, finished by Willian.

Both teams continued to attack and seek the winning goal, but it was Timão who ended up getting it, in a play started by Luiz Brizzi, who found Deives to finish and score the third goal. Foz tried to react and tie again, but the alvinegra defense held on and secured the victory!
