The arrival of Fatal Fans as a new sponsor has given Corinthians a financial lift and strengthened their push to bring back Gabi Nunes, a free agent.

According to Meu Timao, the deal is worth R$ 22 million until December 2027, split across men’s and women’s football. At the club’s request, over 60% will be paid in the first 90 days, and the women’s team are set to receive more than under the previous R$ 17 million model, when about R$ 6 million went to the programme.

Corinthians are expected to table a fresh offer in the coming days after an initial approach was rejected as below salary expectations. Talks have continued, with optimism inside the club as she prioritises a return, although she wants improved terms amid interest from Europe, the United States and Mexico.

Nunes has been working with a personal trainer in Tatuapé, and this week wore an old Corinthians kit during a session.

Head coach Emily Lima has endorsed the move, having worked with Nunes for Brazil and urging the club to act to avoid a domestic rival, saying she would be warmly welcomed.

Nunes, 29, played for Corinthians from 2016 to 2021, winning five trophies including the 2020 and 2021 Brasileiros. She made 115 appearances and scored 77 goals, and is the Brabas’ fourth-highest scorer behind Grazi, Gabi Zanotti and Vic Albuquerque.
