Corinthians want to keep Memphis, and football executive Marcelo Paz is optimistic about a renewal, though it depends on revised terms and clearing arrears. According to Meu Timao, both club and player wish to continue despite the financial strain.

Paz said a fresh agreement needs outside funding, with initial talks held with potential partners. He added that Diniz is keen to work with Memphis beyond this run-in.

Memphis Depay is out with a grade two strain in his right thigh. He was injured on 22 March at Neo Química Arena in a 1-1 draw with Flamengo in the Brasileirão. Since Monday he has worked with physios before resuming ball work.

The club owe about R$ 40 million to the player in outstanding bonuses and consider the current terms unsustainable. Even with a potential pay cut, the board sees changes as necessary. Paz would not detail the approach, but said there is a route being explored.

Signed in September 2024, his contract runs until 20 June 2026 and includes a signing-on fee, appearance, goal and assist bonuses, plus salary and image rights estimated at R$ 3 million per month. After Esportes da Sorte renewed this year, around R$ 57 million stopped going exclusively to his contract. Talks could run into World Cup time, when he might be out of contract.

On the pitch he has 20 goals and 15 assists in 77 games, and has won the 2025 Paulista and Copa do Brasil, plus the 2026 Supercopa do Brasil.
