Vitinho underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a meniscal injury in his left knee, the club said in a statement. He is a confirmed absentee for the match against Athletico-PR.
The procedure was carried out by Dr. Moisés Cohen at Hospital Albert Einstein, with medical chief Ricardo Galotti present.
The injury occurred last Friday during training at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava. Imaging and assessment with Dr. Cohen confirmed surgery was required. He will now begin rehabilitation under the club’s medical staff.
The forward had been sidelined since 30 April, when Corinthians beat Peñarol 2-0 in the Libertadores group stage at Neo Química Arena. He then sustained a right hip obturator strain and hamstring tendon damage in training.
On 15 July he started the transition phase, returning to light ball work, and suffered the left knee meniscus injury during one of those sessions. Recovery for this surgery is typically three to six months, depending on severity and progress.
Vitinho previously injured the medial meniscus in his right knee in October 2025 during a 3-0 win over Mirassol in the Campeonato Brasileiro at Neo Química Arena. He underwent arthroscopy and was out for around six weeks. Signed in August 2025 after a spell at Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, he has made 32 appearances with 17 wins, six draws and nine defeats, plus one goal and four assists. His contract runs until December 2026.
