Corinthians are racing to extend Memphis Depay beyond 20 June, with the forward expected to become an Ezze Seguros product ambassador.
According to Meu Timao, the board are weighing a tie-up with Ezze Seguros to help fund a new deal, though no talks are under way with the insurer or any other partner.
The push intensified after a club video on Saturday touted plans from R$ 10 and showed Memphis Depay’s name and number 10, prompting fan speculation about a renewal teaser.
The approach reflects Ezze’s plan to use him as frontman for a new service, while the sponsor’s own agreement runs only until the end of June.
Back in the squad after two months, Memphis is available to Fernando Diniz against Atlético Mineiro on Sunday, and he echoed Ezze’s message on social media as his representative arrived in Brazil.
Supporters rallied online, with #RenovaComMemphis topping trends on X.
Corinthians have sought companies willing to cover 100% of his wages via commercial deals. He wants to stay and has accepted a pay cut, as executive Marcelo Paz said recently, but fresh hurdles remain.
Main sponsor Esportes da Sorte is not expected to contribute to a new package after initially signalling help last year, and the player’s September 2024 contract, worth about R$ 3 million a month plus bonuses, also comes with an estimated R$ 40 million owed in accrued awards. Talks may stretch to the World Cup period.
