Corinthians risk a third straight game without a goal if they do not score against Internacional on Thursday.

According to Meu Timao, that would be their longest such spell since June last year. The current run began with a league draw against Athletico Paranaense and a 2-0 defeat to Internacional in the Copa do Brasil last 16 first leg.

Earlier this year they also went two games without a goal, failing to score against Novorizontino in the Paulista semi-final and Coritiba in the league.

Their last three-match drought came in 2025, in chronological order, Atlético-MG 0-0 Corinthians, Huracán 1-0 Corinthians, then Corinthians 0-0 Vitória, a run that ended their Sudamericana campaign.

Both barren spells share a common thread, the absence of Yuri Alberto. Last season he left the Atlético Mineiro match with a back injury and was out for two months. He now has a right hamstring problem from the Athletico game, so will miss Internacional and the coming weeks.

Without their leading scorer, Fernando Diniz has turned to Rodrigo Garro and Gui Negão, who have not convinced. On Thursday Jesse Lingard is likely to lead the line.

After losing the first leg, Corinthians must score at least two goals at Neo Química Arena to keep alive hopes of reaching the quarter-finals. Kick-off is at 20:00.
