Corinthians’ deliberative council will vote on Monday on expulsions and suspensions arising from the 2025 invasion aimed at reinstating Augusto Melo. According to Meu Timao, the session concerns members accused of trying to overturn his impeachment.

On 31 May 2025, a group led by Maria Angela de Sousa Ocampos entered the council chamber to nullify the impeachment. She declared herself council president and sought an injunction to restore Melo, which would have replaced interim chief Osmar Stabile.

Proceedings began on 1 July 2026, when the council expelled Melo as a member after accepting the Ethics and Discipline Commission’s report alleging a grave statutory breach and naming him the main intended beneficiary. Votes on other cases were delayed after Maria Angela cited family issues.

The commission recommended expulsion for Maria Angela Ocampos, Mario Mello Junior, Paulo Juricic and Ronaldo Fernandez Tomé. It proposed six-month suspensions for Carlos Eduardo Melo Silva, Rodrigo Simonini Gonzales and Wanderson Contrera Salles, and three months for Marcos Coelho Abdo and Paulo Rogério Pinheiro Junior. Laercio Ferreira Victoria, Leandro Olmedila and Peterson Ruan Aiello do Couto Ramos were earmarked for warnings.

Only expulsions and suspensions go to a ballot, with warnings automatic under the statute. The meeting will be chaired by Leonardo Pantaleão, with voting expected to be open and nominal and attendance restricted to councillors.

Any expulsions would immediately strip mandates, and any return would require a later council review.
