A group of Corinthians councillors and members has asked the Deliberative Council to open ethical and disciplinary proceedings against legal chief Pedro Luis Soares and his deputy, William Tapara de Oliveira.
Central do Timão reports that the move challenges the club’s agreement with the PGFN to restructure an estimated R$ 1.2 billion debt, using Parque São Jorge as collateral valued at R$ 602.2 million.
In a submission to acting council president Leonardo Pantaleão, the group alleges omission and negligence, saying any encumbrance of assets requires strict statutory formalities, including consultation with and approval by the Deliberative Council.
They argue the legal department must ensure compliance with the club’s legal and statutory framework, and that failing to demand observance of a clause deemed vital to asset protection merits ethical and disciplinary scrutiny.
The request is signed by eight councillors and six associates, and the issue was also cited in Wednesday’s impeachment filing against Stabile.
The signatories say the act breaches the Corinthians Statute, citing article 3’s sole paragraph on pledging property, and point to articles 64, 66 and 67 of the Lei Geral do Esporte, law 14.597/2023, as irregular or reckless management.
The demand comes as decisions near. A statute reform vote is set for 29 April, and the board plans to reanalyse the 2024 financial statements that would have affected 2025 accounts. The club is weighing potential irregularities after a R$ 294,000 unreconciled gap between 17 January and 11 July 2025, and must publish the financials by end of April.
