UOL reports that Corinthians have delayed April salary payments to the men's first-team squad and coaching staff. The deposits were due on Thursday, the fifth working day of the month, and are expected to be regularised on Monday, 11 May.
The club has faced cash-flow pressure due to scheduled debt payments and agreements with RCE (Regime Centralizado de Execuções), CNRD (Câmara Nacional de Resolução de Disputas) and Fazenda Nacional. Corinthians carry a gross debt of R$ 2.7 billion.
The delay affects only Fernando Diniz's players and staff, with other employees paid as normal. The club typically settles wages between the 5 and 10 of each month.
It is also a key financial week as the board works to settle what is owed to Talleres of Argentina for the 2024 signing of Rodrigo Garro. The club must pay R$ 42 million by the end of next week to avoid a new transfer ban.
Corinthians have also been ordered to pay R$ 6 million to Midtjylland of Denmark for midfielder Charles.
Memphis Depay is under contract until 20 June this year. President Osmar Stabile and football director Marcelo Paz have said the club cannot fund a new agreement. The team is seeking commercial partners to try to keep the number 10 at Parque São Jorge, with R$ 40 million owed in signing-on fees, achieved targets and bonuses.
