Corinthians duo miss Fortaleza clash, striker fitness update

On Wednesday, Corinthians clarified the reasons for the absences of Rodrigo Garro and Yuri Alberto for the match against Fortaleza, scheduled for 7:00 PM (Brasília time) at Arena Castelão. Both players were left out of the squad for medical reasons and, therefore, did not travel with the alvinegro delegation.

Garro suffered a strain in the soleus muscle, located in the calf, in the posterior and deeper region of the leg. Due to the injury, the midfielder stayed in São Paulo to continue treatment with the club’s physiotherapy department.

Meanwhile, Yuri Alberto underwent an MRI after leaving the match against Botafogo with pain in his left adductor. The exam revealed edema in the pubic symphysis and overload in the adductor muscles. Despite this, the expectation is that he will be available to face Cruzeiro in the Copa do Brasil.

Another confirmed absence is Memphis Depay, who remains out since suffering a sprain in his left knee during the Majestoso. The striker has started the physical transition phase and was also not included in the squad for tonight’s game.

Timão comes into the match after stumbling in the last round, drawing 2-2 with Botafogo in front of 37,000 fans at Neo Química Arena. If they win the next game, they could reach 49 points and move up to eighth place, depending on the result of the current occupant, São Paulo, who faces Internacional at home this round.
