Corinthians eye ex-Flamengo man to replace Fabinho Soldado as director

After announcing the departure of Fabinho Soldado from the position of football executive, Corinthians is searching the market for options to replace him. Following an unsuccessful inquiry regarding Alessandro Brito, Botafogo’s director of sports management, the club’s board now has Bruno Spindel as its top priority. Spindel left Flamengo this year after nearly a decade at the Rio de Janeiro club.

The information was initially reported by Itatiaia, stating that Spindel has become the first choice on a list that includes three other names, which are being kept confidential. Corinthians’ intention is to have a new football executive in place by early January, when the squad reconvenes to begin preparations for the 2026 preseason.

Bruno Spindel worked at Flamengo for 12 years, starting at the beginning of Eduardo Bandeira de Mello’s administration. During this period, he held various roles, such as director and marketing manager, CEO, and football executive, playing an important part in assembling the team’s roster during 2022 and 2024, and participating in negotiations for player arrivals and departures.

According to an investigation by the UOL portal, the hiring will still need to go through the club’s compliance department before being finalized. The financial department will also be involved in analyzing the names considered by the board. If a contract with Spindel is signed, it should be for one year, until the end of president Osmar Stabile’s term, with a salary lower than what Soldado received.
