Corinthians have initiated early discussions with striker Carlos Vinicius, exploring the possibility of a move as the new transfer window opens, according to Globo. The 30-year-old forward is now a free agent after his spell with Fulham, and negotiations have included initial talks regarding financial terms as well as contract details.
Vinicius has spent the past seven years in Europe, initially arriving at Real Massamá in Portugal before earning a transfer to Napoli. Stints at Rio Ave and Monaco followed, but his trajectory was uneven after that period. He notably scored 10 goals in 22 appearances during a loan spell at Tottenham before further moves to PSV and a €5 million transfer to Fulham in 2022.
In the first half of 2024, Fulham loaned Vinicius to Galatasaray, where he scored his most recent goal on 17 March. His involvement at Fulham this past season was minimal, featuring in only four matches before departing the club.
The striker’s last year has seen a notable goal drought, a detail not lost on Corinthians’ decision-makers as they weigh the pros and cons of a deal. Still, the club values the chance to add experience and pedigree without a transfer fee, given Vinicius is available on a free transfer.
Although Corinthians’ recruitment strategy is currently centred on adding wide attackers, sources indicate that the club remains open to market opportunities like Vinicius. The player, for his part, is hopeful about a return to Brazil—motivated by the appeal of representing a major club and reportedly willing to reconsider his initial salary expectations to accommodate the move.
Vinicius is no stranger to Brazilian football. He came through the youth systems at Santos and Palmeiras and began his senior career at Caldense and Grêmio Anápolis before heading to Europe.
As the domestic transfer window is set to open, Corinthians have been measured in their activity, having only completed the signing of left-back Fabrizio Angileri for the 2025 campaign. The next steps in the Vinicius discussion are set against this backdrop of a squad in transition.
