Corinthians supporters protested after a 3-0 defeat to Red Bull Bragantino on Thursday, their anger spilling over in Bragança Paulista as attention turned to Sunday’s Majestoso against São Paulo.

According to Meu Timao, chants declared Sunday would be war, and some warned there would be trouble if Corinthians do not win, the protests beginning before the final whistle at Cícero de Souza Marques.

The backlash followed an opening 3-0 win over Ponte Preta, yet dissatisfaction centred on an alternative line-up chosen by head coach Dorival Júnior, heavy on reserves, which made errors across 90 minutes and was outplayed by the hosts.

Sunday brings Corinthians’ first clássico of the season at 16:00, at Neo Química Arena. They sit eighth on three points, currently occupying the final quarter-final berth in the Paulistão.

Corinthians won the most recent meeting with São Paulo, 3-1 in Itaquera. Rival clashes comprise almost 38% of the eight first-phase rounds following the calendar cut, with the top eight progressing to the knockouts.
