Corinthians Futsal winger hails Paulista win, thanks fans

On the night of Thursday, the 23rd, Corinthians returned to the court for the Paulista Futsal Championship. In the first leg of the competition’s quarterfinals, the Alvinegro went to the Rogê Ferreira Gymnasium in Campinas to face Pulo Futsal, winning 3-1 in a comfortable display in front of the Fiel, who showed up in large numbers. The goals were scored by Rick, Luisinho, and Deives.

After the match, the scorer of the second goal spoke to FPFS TV. Luisinho described the match as difficult and thanked the fans for their presence in Campinas. “It’s really good to play here in the gym like this. It was a tough game, but nothing is decided yet, right? We still have to play at Parque São Jorge. Now it’s time to work, focus, adjust what needs to be adjusted so we can secure qualification.”, he said.

He also spoke about the Corinthians mentality at this decisive moment of the season: “These games are very mental. In finals, we say that half the game is mental and half is physical, right? So we have to be very strong mentally, because sometimes the other team might start a little better, but whoever is stronger mentally throughout the game, I believe, has a much better chance of coming out with the win.”

Finally, Luisinho also talked about his relationship with the more experienced players, especially Deives, who announced his retirement at the end of the year. “We try to learn a lot from the older guys, because they have more experience. Our team is really good in that regard. Everyone can listen and learn from each other. And man, with Deives, it’s a shame he’s going to retire, but we’ve learned so much from him and we keep learning every day. It’s a privilege to have him with us daily. And who knows, maybe he’ll stay for another year. Let’s start a petition (laughs).”

The victory over Pulo allowed the People’s Team to take an important advantage home. In the return leg, with a spot in the state semifinals at stake, Corinthians can lose by one goal at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium and still qualify for the next round.
