Corinthians remain stuck on internal legal and compliance red tape, leaving their settlement with Talleres over Rodrigo Garro unpaid. The club missed the 1 May deadline, then an extra week, and talks have since stalled.

The agreement requires an upfront payment of US$ 8.5 million, about R$ 42 million, to the Argentine side, including interest and charges. Central do Timão reports that Corinthians plan to fund this via a loan from Outfield.

The debt stems from a FIFA ruling in February 2025 for US$ 3.6 million. Corinthians appealed to CAS to avert a fresh transfer ban after relations frayed between former president Augusto Melo and Talleres.

A change in approach under president Osmar Stabile reopened dialogue. Stabile travelled to Argentina to meet Andrés Fassi, and said in early April that Cori had approved the payment plan.

Amid the impasse, FIFA imposed a new transfer ban last week over a debt to Philadelphia Union from the signing of José Martínez. The club were ordered in September 2025 to pay US$ 1.425 million and appealed to CAS, with interest of 15% per year applied.

Under Melo, Corinthians agreed a US$ 1.7 million fee, paying US$ 200,000 upfront and splitting the rest into three instalments, the first due in December 2024. Non-payment led Philadelphia Union to win a FIFA case. Separately, CAS this month ordered Corinthians to pay more than R$ 6 million to Midtjylland over Charles, with a 45-day deadline from 31 March, and 51 days had passed by Thursday.
