Corinthians’ Gaviões da Fiel host Boca’s La 12 before São Paulo quarter-final | OneFootball

According to Meu Timao, Gaviões da Fiel, Corinthians’ main organised supporters’ group, hosted Boca Juniors’ La 12 at their São Paulo headquarters on Tuesday afternoon. The visit came hours before the Argentines face São Paulo at Morumbis in the Copa Sudamericana quarter-final second leg.

Kick-off is at 21:30 on Tuesday. Boca won the first leg 1-0 in Buenos Aires and carry the advantage of a draw to reach the semi-finals.

The groups have tightened ties in recent months, meeting on several occasions. In early August their representatives gathered in Argentina, when Corinthians were to face Rosario Central in the Libertadores last 16 first leg and Boca were to host Recoleta in the Sudamericana. Members of Gaviões watched Boca’s match from the stands alongside La 12.

During the Argentina visit, the two groups continued joint discussions on anti-racism initiatives. The aim is to coordinate awareness efforts and combat racism in South American football. The topic had also been addressed in July, when La 12 visited Gaviões’ base in São Paulo.

Gaviões have also welcomed representatives of Cerro Porteño, of Paraguay, in May, and Peñarol, of Uruguay, in April.

Gaviões, along with other Corinthians organised groups, are preparing to attend Wednesday’s Libertadores quarter-final second leg against Estudiantes. The first leg in Argentina finished 1-1.
