Corinthians goalkeeper called up for Brazil Under-20 training camp

The Brazil Women's U-20 National Team will feature a Corinthians player in its final stage of preparation before the South American Championship of the category. On the afternoon of this Tuesday (6), coach Camilla Orlando announced the call-up of 30 athletes, among them the goalkeeper Ana Morganti, 17 years old, recently promoted to the professional squad of the Brabas.

The group will be in training camp from January 16 to February 1, at Granja Comary, in Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro. During this period, the coaching staff will conduct a series of training sessions aimed at the 2026 South American Women's U-20 Championship, which will be held in Paraguay from February 4 to 28. Before the start of the competition, the final list of 22 players who will represent Brazil in the tournament will be released.

In the initial phase of the championship, the Brazilian National Team is in Group B, alongside Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia. Group A is made up of Paraguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, and Uruguay. The top three teams from each group advance to the final stage, and the top four from that phase secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. The current and most successful champion of the tournament, Brazil has won ten titles in the editions of 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2022, and 2024.

At Corinthians, Ana Morganti's promotion happened after Kemelli's departure, making the club have four goalkeepers in the professional squad. The young player has a contract valid until December 2028 and already participates regularly in training sessions with the main group.

This call-up marks the first time Morganti has been called to the Brazil U-20 National Team. Despite her young age, the goalkeeper already has a significant track record with the Amarelinha. In 2024, at just 15 years old, she was the starting goalkeeper in the campaign that won the South American U-17 title. The following year, she took on the captain's armband in the continental competition, which ended with a runner-up finish, and helped Brazil reach fourth place in the U-17 World Cup, the country's best result in the tournament's history. In the quarterfinals, against Canada, she was decisive by saving a penalty and securing the team's spot in the semifinals.

Currently, the Corinthians professional squad has Nicole, Lelê, and Rillary as options for the position. With Morganti's integration, coach Lucas Piccinato now has another alternative in the main group, as well as the possibility of using her in the U-20 team, since the athlete still fits the age category.
