Corinthians have sent three payment proposals to Talleres, seeking to settle about R$ 32 million for Rodrigo Garro and head off a new transfer ban, according to Meu Timao.
The initial offers were rejected by the Argentine club. Even so, Corinthians view a fresh round of talks positively after earlier resistance linked to the strained relationship between Andrés Fassi and then president Augusto Melo.
The first bids were treated internally as a test to gauge Talleres’ willingness and acceptable terms, since the approach originated with the Argentine side. Resolving the matter is currently a club priority.
“There is no negotiation of any kind. The economic and sporting damage caused by non-payment was irreparable for Talleres. We trusted and were disappointed,” Fassi told UOL Esporte in August 2025.
The mood shifted late last year after Marcelo Paz became executive football director, with Fassi praising the new leadership and reiterating his wish to be paid. “I am very happy that an institution as important as Corinthians is hiring prepared, honest and visionary people. They are not responsible for the huge breaches of contract the club had with Talleres. I hope we can receive what is owed to us and keep working together as institutions,” he told ESPN at the start of January.
The dispute dates back to February last year, when FIFA ruled against Corinthians and ordered payment. That sum included interest, taxes, damages and legal costs.
An internal restructuring group at Parque São Jorge is leading the talks, the same committee that resolved issues around sanctions and debts for Félix Torres and Matías Rojas. It also drafted the 2026 budget and presented the plan to Cori in December.
