Corinthians have been hit with a new FIFA transfer ban, leaving the club unable to register players indefinitely. It is the second sanction currently in force against the Parque São Jorge side.
According to Meu Timao, the fresh embargo follows non-payment of a 225,000 dollar disciplinary fine imposed by FIFA over recent cases involving sums due to Philadelphia Union for José Martínez, the signing of Charles from Midtjylland, and the 2025 loan of Talles Magno from New York City FC. It is not tied to a direct club-to-club debt, and the club must settle the fine to lift the measure.
A separate FIFA ban has been in place since May for late payment owed to Philadelphia Union, a debt estimated at R$ 7.7 million, covering three windows. Until it is cleared, Corinthians cannot add new players to the first team or the academy.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS, has also ordered Corinthians to pay more than R$ 6 million to Midtjylland for breaching the agreement to sign midfielder Charles in the second half of 2024 under Augusto Melo. The ruling was published on 31 March, with a 45-day deadline, and as of Monday 114 days had elapsed.
In early June the club were ordered to pay 850,000 dollars to New York City FC for failing to honour the payment agreed to extend Talles Magno’s loan, arranged in April 2025. That decision is dated 17 February, published only early last month, and carries 15% yearly interest from 2 August 2025, plus a 90,000 dollar fine and 21,000 dollars in costs. Corinthians were given 45 days to pay.
Brazil’s transfer window opens on 20 July, but Corinthians, who are negotiating loan deals for Arthur Melo and Wesley, cannot register them while the sanctions stand. They can, however, renew existing contracts such as Memphis Depay’s, which runs until 31 July 2026, and continue to recruit for women’s football.
