Hugo Souza was honoured by Corinthians at the Neo Química Arena on Wednesday night before their fifth-round Campeonato Brasileiro match against Coritiba, but the hosts lost 2-0.
According to Meu Timao, the goalkeeper was greeted on entering for his warm-up by president Osmar Stabile and football executive Marcelo Paz, who presented a commemorative plaque and a personalised shirt bearing 100.
The 100-match mark had been reached on 16 February in a 1-0 win over São Bernardo, the final round of the first phase of the Campeonato Paulista. The club waited until the team returned to Itaquera to stage the ceremony after four successive away fixtures.
Souza made his Corinthians debut on 16 July 2024 against Criciúma in that season’s Brasileirão, quickly establishing himself as first choice. He has 105 appearances, with 51 wins, 28 draws and 26 defeats.
He played a key role in the 2025 Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil triumphs, and the Supercopa do Brasil in early 2026. He also ranks third outright among Timão goalkeepers for penalty saves, with 14 since his debut.
Corinthians visit Santos on Sunday 15 at 16:00 at Vila Belmiro in the next round of the Brasileirão.
