Corinthians will honour Oscar Schmidt during the 13th-round Campeonato Brasileiro match against Vasco da Gama at Neo Química Arena.

According to Meu Timao, the corner flags will bear his name beside the number 14 in orange, a nod to the colour of a basketball. The same graphic will appear on the players' shirts.

The stadium will host further tributes to the club's famed number 14, with symbolic items from his 1996 title-winning season displayed in the Atrium. A minute's silence will be observed before kick-off, and he will receive an honourable mention in the traditional São Jorge ritual during the pre-match.

Oscar died on 17 April after being taken to a São Paulo hospital following a malaise, and his death was confirmed in the afternoon. His family chose not to release further details.

Signed by Corinthians in 1995 to help restore the club's standing in basketball after the continental treble of the 1960s, he quickly delivered silverware. In 1996 the Parque São Jorge side won what would be their last Brazilian Championship before the NBB era, beating União Corinthians 3-1 in the finals. Oscar was the series' standout with a 34-point average, finished the competition as top scorer with 959 points, and was named MVP.
