Corinthians-licensed petrol stations among PF operation targets

Launched by the Federal Police in August, Operation Hidden Carbon, considered the largest ever conducted against the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), indirectly affected Corinthians due to the presence of three gas stations licensed by the club among the 251 targeted by police operations. The information was revealed in an investigation by the portal ge.globo, published this Monday, the 6th.

The stations are located in the neighborhoods of Cidade Líder, Vila Norma, and Conjunto Habitacional Padre Manoel da Nóbrega, in the East Zone of São Paulo's capital, licensed as white-flag stations and normally listed in the club's official records. The units are linked to Pedro Furtado Gouveia Neto, Himad Abdallah Mourad, and Luiz Ernesto Franco Monegatto, all suspected of participating in a criminal scheme led by Mohamad Hussein Mourad, according to the investigations.

The licensing of the stations was made possible by the opening of the “Postos Corinthians” network in 2021. At the time, the president of Alvinegro was Duilio Monteiro Alves. Speaking to the media outlet, he argued that the amendments made during his administration followed institutional procedures, that he received no complaints or indications of irregularities regarding the agreements, and that they contain clauses providing for the accountability of the licensed companies for any damage to Corinthians' image.

According to the club, the stations operate under licensing contracts mediated by third parties, and it is not responsible for managing the activities. Alvinegro also stated that it closely monitors developments and admits the possibility of legal measures if the facts so require. It is worth noting that Corinthians is not mentioned at any time by the authorities responsible for Operation Hidden Carbon.

It is estimated that the criminal scheme under judicial review moved R$ 8.4 billion through tax fraud, money laundering, and practices associated with the 251 stations, which are spread across four states. Pedro Furtado Gouveia Neto, identified as an agent of GGX Global, would be part of the group responsible for managing the network, while Himad Mourad appears as an organizer of shielding and laundering mechanisms through more than a hundred companies in the sector.

“Sport Club Corinthians Paulista informs that it is not the managing entity responsible for the gas stations mentioned in the report. In these cases, the Club clarifies that it is a brand licensing contract.

Corinthians also informs that it is closely monitoring the progress of the investigations to — if necessary — take appropriate legal measures regarding the licensing contracts with the gas stations mentioned in the report.”

Check Duilio Monteiro Alves' statement:

“It is a licensing contract that provided for the creation of the Corinthians station network, already existing in the club before I took office as president. The contractual amendments signed during my administration authorized the operation of the first units and went through the club's competent bodies, having been signed with companies authorized by a federal regulatory agency. I am unaware of any irregularity or complaint made about this contract until the last day of my administration. I emphasize that our Legal Department also included a liability clause for the operation, which ensures the club is compensated for any potential damage caused to the institution and its image.”
