Corinthians left-back Diego Palacios, on loan at Ecuadorian club Universidad Católica, has clocked seven outings this season, already more than in the previous two years with the Brazilian side.

He came off the bench in a 2-0 league win over Técnico Universitario, introduced 35 minutes into the second half. According to Meu Timao, his loan runs until the end of this year.

Católica are third in the league, a spot that would secure a place in the final phase. Palacios could feature again on Saturday against Libertad.

Signed in early 2024 under president Augusto Melo after leaving Los Angeles FC, the 26-year-old agreed a deal to December 2027. A series of left knee injuries blunted his start at Corinthians.

He played only four times for Corinthians in two years. Loaned to Karpaty in August 2025, he made two appearances in six months and was left out from October.

This year’s loan also trimmed costs, saving about R$ 2.6 million. Since joining Católica he has featured in seven of 11 games, always as a substitute, for only 101 minutes, roughly 14 per match.

Previously he logged one game in his first season, then five in 2025, three for Corinthians and two for Karpaty. That amounted to 250 minutes, an average of 41 per outing.

With Corinthians he recorded three wins and one defeat and was part of the 2025 Paulista champions. He is aiming for more minutes in Ecuador before his future is assessed at season’s end.
