Félix Torres, owned by Corinthians and on loan at Internacional, has been called up by Ecuador for this year's World Cup, with the announcement made in the early hours of Monday.
The centre-back is contracted to Corinthians until December 2027 and is with Internacional on loan until the end of 2026, with an option to buy whose figures remain undisclosed. According to Meu Timao, Corinthians and Internacional are currently splitting the player's wages.
Corinthians signed him in January 2024 from Santos Laguna for 6.5 million dollars, about R$32.1 million at the time. Payment delays triggered a FIFA transfer ban on the club, lifted only at the start of this year. Corinthians retain 80% of his economic rights.
In 2026, Torres has played 19 times for Internacional and scored twice. He also featured in two warm-up friendlies, against the Netherlands on 31 March and Saudi Arabia on 30 May.
Ecuador are in Group E and open against Ivory Coast on 14 June at 20:00 Brasília time. They then face Curaçao on 20 June at 21:00, before Germany on 25 June.
