Corinthians mark International Day of Democracy on social media

Corinthians celebrated International Democracy Day this Monday, September 15, with a special post on its social media that recalls a historic chapter of the club: the Corinthians' Democracy. The initiative reinforces the relationship between democratic values and the club's history, recalling the active participation of players, coaching staff, and employees in the club's decision-making in the 1980s.

In the post, which featured an iconic image of Biro-Biro wearing the Corinthians' Democracy shirt, the club highlighted the importance of the movement. "Today we celebrate a value essential to society and deeply rooted in the history of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista: Democracy!", wrote the official Corinthians account.

The text emphasized that, even during the military regime, the Corinthians' Democracy was a milestone of courage and collective participation, allowing important club decisions to be widely discussed, involving athletes, coaching staff, and board members.

"In the 80s, in the midst of the military regime, players, coaching staff, and Timão employees gave voice to one of the greatest ideological movements in the history of Brazilian football: the Corinthians' Democracy. A milestone of courage and collective participation", highlighted the publication.

Corinthians also took advantage of the date to reinforce the club's current values, emphasizing the importance of respect, diversity of ideas, active voice, and commitment to the common good. "On this day, we remember that democracy is built with respect, diversity of ideas, active voice, and commitment to the common good!", the club concluded.
