Corinthians members have filed a court request for judicial intervention at the club, seeking to remove president Osmar Stabile and appoint an interventor.
According to Globo.com, the petition was submitted on Tuesday to the 2ª Vara de Falências e Recuperações Judiciais de São Paulo, linked to the club’s Regime Centralizado de Execuções case.
The move comes from the collective Salvem o Corinthians, formed by members and supporters, though only associates signed. It cites recent scandals and says a political takeover is stifling oversight. It also alleges breaches by leaders of the Conselho Deliberativo, Conselho de Orientação and Conselho Fiscal, so the intervention would cover those bodies too.
Monday’s Council meeting, which approved the removal of Romeu Tuma Júnior from its leadership, is cited as further evidence. The applicants say the session was illegal and violated the club’s statutes. The Council’s Justice Commission backed that reading.
The filing also seeks a professional CEO, an independent audit, and a marketing firm to pursue opportunities and grow revenue. It calls for five public debates on statute reform and SAF adoption, plus a general assembly vote.
Interventions of this kind are rare in Brazilian football, though one occurred at Bahia in 2013. The petition asks to include the São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office, which opened an inquiry late last year into a possible intervention at Corinthians.
