Corinthians host Flamengo at Neo Química Arena on Sunday at 20:30 in the eighth round of the Brasileirão, and if Charles does not feature he could go the whole of March without playing.
According to Meu Timao, his last outing was on 25 February in a 1-1 draw with Cruzeiro in round four. He started, won four of six duels, and was replaced in the second half by Rodrigo Garro.
Since then, Corinthians have faced Novorizontino, Coritiba, Santos and Chapecoense, with Charles named among the substitutes each time. One factor in his absence was a 10-day gap after the Paulista semi-final loss to Novorizontino, longer than their eight-day pre-season, before they returned on 11 March.
Competition in midfield has also intensified with Allan’s arrival. Since debuting on 12 February in a 2-0 win over Red Bull Bragantino, Allan has appeared in all nine matches, starting five.
In the Cruzeiro draw, Allan came on in the second half and has since become Dorival Júnior’s preferred option in that role. If Charles does not play against Flamengo, his next chance would only come from 1 April because of the FIFA dates.
Charles has made 71 appearances for Corinthians, 36 as a starter, with 40 wins, 22 draws and nine defeats. He has scored two goals and supplied one assist, and has won the 2025 Paulista and Copa do Brasil, plus the 2026 Supercopa do Brasil.
